Boe Bot with Scorpion Platform

Submitted by Jack Morrow, age 15:

The Scorpion configuration of the Boe-Bot platform is a unique robot designed for autonomous object retrieval and environment exploration. It is built on the standard Boe-Bot chassis, with a USB Board of Education as the carrier board. The gripper kit is installed in the standard position, but the Ping))) Ultrasonic Sensor on a servo mount is placed aft of the gripper servo and above it. The other three Ping))) Sensors are mounted either on the breadboard, or on external supports from the included parts of the Ping))) Servo Mount kit. A Scott Electronics G 12032 LCD Graphics Display is rear mounted next to the gripper servo.

The most unique attachment to the robot is a custom-cut arm with two degrees of freedom on two Standard Servos. The range of the arm is a quarter of a sphere, and can be used to mount any number of end effectors to help it accomplish its mission.
The best Stamp used in this robot at this time is a BS2pe, as it has a much greater capacity then the standard BS2. It is programmed in PBASIC via mini USB. With this configuration, the possibilities are greatly expanded with minimal cost and trouble of assembly. The code can reach a much higher level of complexity using the triangulation of the four servos to create a multiple perspective image. Included is source code to run the systems check, which runs through various operations, such as waving hello and displaying all four Ping))) readings on the LCD.

I want to thank Mr. Clint Bridges for his generous support and guidance as he taught me about robotics, without whom I would not have been able to develop this project.
