Sailmaking
This Project was submitted to Parallax by North Sails
North Sails in Minden, Nevada uses many BS2-IC modules underneath this sail mold to control sail mold shape. Each BS2-IC is connected to a DC motor that adjusts a cable connected to the sail mold. The BASIC Stamp® microcontrollers are networked with RS-485 and connected to a master PC that sends the positioning data. North Sails manufacturing process, known as 3DL(TM), provides a sail that holds its shape over a wide wind range for high performance sailboats.
