Model Railroad

Excerpt from Don Buczynski’s D & B Model Railroad website:

“This is a fairly recent project that began in June 2002. Over the previous 20 or so years, model railroading was limited to the collection of an occasional piece of track when visiting the hobby shop for R/C model airplane stuff. A friendly wise sage, Ray by name, once spoke to me the following words:

"There are two kinds of R/C model airplanes; those that have crashed, and those that have yet to crash."

Having finally come to a true understanding of these words (I can be a slow learner at times) and getting tired of sweeping up little pieces of balsa wood, model railroading moved to the forefront of my hobby activities. I am aided in this hobby by the wealth of information available on the web from manufacturers, historical societies, and message forums.

As will be evident in other topics on this page, some of my computer hardware and software engineering skills have worked their way into my hobby activities. The D&B model railroad does not necessarily represent the simplest or least expensive way things could have been done. In some ways, things are probably more complicated than need to be. I justify this extra effort in that for me, this is a hobby and an opportunity to learn new skills and knowledge.”
